Climate change education

Climate crisis will be the world's leading problem in the foreseeable future. It will impact every area of ​​life. No one will be able to avoid its effects,. Therefore, it is crucial to educate the youth, especially because of constantly spreading disinformation and conspiracy theories, which in the contemporaty media environment are accepted uncritically, even by educated people. Facing these challenges is a multi-sectoral task, in which education plays a special role. The influence of teachers is immense, for this reason they are a key element of a coprehensive system aiming at social change. Subsequently, it is critical for teachers to update their knowledge climate crisis and to be aware that lessons in every subject can be integrated with elements that build young people's resilience to the unfavorable phenomena inherent in the reality in which we live.

The training activity for teachers on climate change education, hosted by Creative Youth Academy Hungary, was designed to equip twelve teachers from Türkiye, Poland, and Italy with the knowledge, skills, and resources needed to effectively integrate climate change education into their curricula. The training covered a diverse range of topics related to climate change, including its scientific basis, impacts on ecosystems and societies, mitigation and adaptation strategies, as well as the role of education in fostering climate change resilience.
