ABOUT THE PROJECT Harmony of Nature

The “Harmony of Nature” Erasmus+ KA 210 project is a cooperation between students and teachers from three schools and an educational NGO in four countries: Poland, Türkiye, Italy and Hungary. The participants of this project have delved into the matters of climate change, enviromental degradation, biodiversity and sustainable solutions to the problem o waste, as well as explored the relationship between humans and their biological environment through ecomusicology. They discussed these issues and produced presentations, videos and other educational materials for teachers and students.

The main goal has been to raise awareness about the environment and the influence that every human being has on planet Earth through daily activities. Students tried to encourage their peers to participate in the local communities' struggle against the ecological crisis and modify their habits in order to make a change. Also, a broader understanding of the significance of biodiversity and discovering creative solutions as well as using art to connect to the biological surroundings shape attitudes that have the potential to create an educated and proactive society. Young people know a lot about ecology, but some topics and sustainable solutions are not sufficiently widespread. The current trend for handicrafts served in the project as a proposal for a sustainable solution to excessive consumption and an element linking the response to the climate crisis with the heritage of European countries. Discovering European cultural heritage, including UNESCO Heritage Sites, eploring common European roots helped build the European identity of the participating students and develop the sense of responsibility for the land.

The teachers who participated in the project worked on how to educate their students about these crucial issues. One objective was to try to go beyond the pattern of providing climate education only during biology and geography lessons. It was achieved by educating teaching staff about climate processes and misinformation, as well as presenting aspects of climate change that can be incorporated into lessons.  Teachers might overlook the fact that skills in the area of conscious navigation of the infosphere, critical thinking, etc., are also elements of climate education and can be interwoven into lessons of various subjects.

The Information Technology module of the Harmony of Nature project offered workshops such as programming a robot, creating quest games for mobile applications and using Web-2 tools for recording sounds.
